Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and North York General Hospital (NYGH) have issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the New Patient Care Tower (NPCT) redevelopment project located in the Don Valley North neighbourhood of Toronto, Canada.
The multi-phased project will increase capacity and quality of care across NYGH’s highest acuity services. The new tower will include 11 floors for patient care spaces and two levels of underground parking and will connect to NYGH’s existing building on six levels to enable the flow of patients, staff, and materials, ensuring a high level of integration between new and existing. The new tower will include up to 317 private patient bedrooms, expanding NYGH’s acute care capacity by approximately 100 net new beds, in addition to expanded spaces for other acute care programs and services. Clinical programs within the NPCT include: Medical/Surgical Units; Critical Care and Respiratory Therapy; Inpatient Mental Health; Maternal Newborn Program (Triage and Induction, Labour and Delivery, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit); Surgical Services; and Emergency Department. The NPCT will also include space for select clinical support and support services: Biomedical Engineering; Command Centre; NYGH Foundation; Environmental Services; and Medical Device Reprocessing Department.
In addition to services included within the scope of the NPCT, renovation within the existing hospital is required to enable enhanced operations or growth for select clinical support services to support the net growth in inpatient capacity. Services requiring renovation in existing space include Laboratory Medicine, Inpatient Pharmacy and Medical Imaging. NPCT will be built on a highly constrained site south of the existing facility. The oldest part of the existing parking structure will be demolished to create space for the NPCT (146,852 sqft of parking garage demolition). The Gross Floor Area for the tower and renovation to existing space includes approx 845,670 sqft.
The closing date for this RFQ is April 01, 2025. For additional details about this tender, please visit our Business Opportunity page here.
