The Georgia Department for Transportation (GDOT) has issued a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for the Georgia Interstate Broadband and Wireless Deployment P3 Project. The authority is seeking a private partner to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain a broadband fiber optic cable and small cell wireless network along over 2,000km of right-of-way on interstate highways across the state, located in the south-east of the USA.
The contract would include managing and maintaining the current and future GDOT broadband fiber optic network, future wireless antennas and support structures, and the option to lease the utilization of the network to third parties for commercial activities.
The submission deadline is 16 August 2018. GDOT intends to approve a list of qualified proposers and shortlist between two and five. Technical and price proposals from those shortlisted will be due in spring 2019.
