RFQ announced for Mphanda Nkuwa Hydroelectric PPP project

The Government of Mozambique has launched a request for qualification (RFQ) seeking private partner for the development of Mphanda Nkuwa Hydroelectric project in Tete province.

The project involves the construction of an electricity generation plant and a supplementary transmission line. The hydroelectric plant will be located on the Zambezi River approximately 61 km downstream of the Cahora Bassa Hydroelectric Power Plant and will be accompanied by 1,300 km long power transmission line connecting Tete to Maputo. The project is expected to attract investments of US$4.5-5 billion.
