The Ministry of Energy and National Grid of Uzbekistan has announced the launch of the Request for Proposal (RFP) stage for the development of 3 solar photovoltaic (PV) plants in Uzbekistan.
The selected partner will be responsible for the design, finance, operation, maintenance, and transfer of the three sites, including a 250 MW in Bukhara region, a 150 MW in Namangan region and a 100 MW in Khorezm region. The Bukhara project also includes a 63 MW battery energy storage system. On March 30, 2022, the Ministry of Energy shortlisted 11 bidders, which now will receive an invitation for the RFP process.
The tender is being carried out by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Public-Private Partnership Development Agency under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan. International Finance Corporation is acting as a lead transaction advisor to the Government of Uzbekistan in this project.
