Infrastructure Ontario (IO) has announced that the request for proposals (RFP) stage has closed for the second Advance Tunnel Contract (ATC2) for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension (ECWE) in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
The selected partner will be responsible for the design, build and finance of the 500-m tunnel that will start east of Jane Street and connect to the future Mount Dennis Station. Two teams — Acciona-GIP Joint Venture (AGJV) and STRABAG — were chosen via a fair, open, and transparent Request for Qualifications (RFQ) procedure and asked to reply to an RFP in April 2022. Both teams sent in their submissions by the RFP deadline.
After reviewing the submissions, IO and Metrolinx anticipate awarding the ATC2 tunneling contract in the spring of 2023. The entire procurement procedure is being watched over by a fairness monitor.
