RFP launched for Metro mover system in Miami-Dade county

The Miami-Dade County in the USA has launched a request for proposal seeking a private developer for the comprehensive wayside system overhaul for the Metromover system in Miami-Dade county. The procurement will be done on build, finance, operate mode. The county is seeking to award a contract for a period not to exceed 4 years.

Metromover began operating 32 years ago. The system has expanded and vehicle fleet has been replaced, however, many major subsystems that makeup the system have not been replaced of refurbished and have now reached the end of its design life. These systems include Automatic Train Control (ATC) system, Data Transmissive System (DTS), several Power Distribution System (PDS) elements, guideway switch equipment, and Central Control equipment. The Comprehensive Wayside System 1overhaul Project will include the design, supply manufacture, installation, testing and commissioning of the APM System into a fully functional Metromover System that will meet all of the requirements outlined in the solicitation.
