New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) has sought a consultant or consultant team to provide construction management services for the Station Plaza Project located along Archer Avenue, bounded on the west by 144th Place, and on the east by 147th Place in Jamaica, Queens.
The project seeks to enhance pedestrian safety, alleviate traffic congestion, and enhance conditions for the over 18,000 daily transit users who switch modes at the crucial Archer and Sutphin Boulevard intersection. This transit hub serves 13 bus lines, 2 subway lines, most of the LIRR's commuter lines and the Air Train service from John F. Kennedy International Airport to the LIRR. In 2006, NYCDOT and NYCEDC endorsed a plan, proposed by the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation (GJDC), to transform the intersection into a transit plaza for improved efficiency and safety. This plan was reaffirmed in the 2015 Jamaica Action Plan, involving the realignment of Archer Avenue northward, wider sidewalks relocated subway exits, an extra bus lane, enhanced bus turning areas, lighting, signage, landscaping, and graphics. The project, supported by a Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant, aims to mitigate traffic congestion and enhance safety at the transit hub.
The Construction Manager oversees administrative and managerial tasks essential for the Project's successful completion, including cost, schedule, and quality management. They are also tasked with conducting engineering peer reviews, constructability assessments, and cost estimates, focusing on integrating planned work with adjacent parklands. Furthermore, ensuring the implementation and adherence to public safety measures by all subcontractors is crucial.
