RFP issued for USD4bn subway project in Canada

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) and Metrolinx have issued a Request for Proposals (RFPs) to teams who have recently been shortlisted to bid on the advance tunnelling work on the Scarborough Subway Extension project in Toronto.

Teams have been invited to respond to an RFP and will begin preparing their proposals that detail how they will deliver the project. You can see the list of the shortlisted teams in the project profile.

Upon evaluating the proposals received, IO and Metrolinx expect to award the tunnelling contract in mid-2021.

The Scarborough Subway Extension is a 7.8 kilometre extension of Line 2 from Kennedy Station to McCowan Road/Sheppard Avenue. The Scarborough Subway Extension (SSE) Advance Tunnel Project is the first phase of work for the 7.8 kilometre extension of TTC's Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth), from Kennedy Station to McCowan Road/Sheppard Avenue.

To expedite work on this project, tunnelling will begin first, to be followed by separate contract for the balance of the work, which includes building the stations, fitting-out the tunnels and installing and commissioning the systems. The delivery model for the Advance Tunnel Contract will be design-build-finance and the delivery model.
