Infrastructure Ontario (IO) has issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) to the qualified 51 Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for the Ontario Connect project in Canada.
The selected ISPs will support accelerated high-speed internet expansion in the province by implementing the government’s plan to connect every region in Ontario to reliable, high-speed internet by the end of 2025. Through the RFP process, the qualified providers who proceed through the pre-auction submission phase are invited to participate in reverse auctions. These events will provide bidders an option to bid for opportunities to deliver high-speed internet access to geographic regions of the province (known here as lots or service areas), comprising underserved and unserved communities.
Successful ISPs for the geographic lots/service areas are planned to be announced in spring 2022. The RFP document is available here.
