The City of Airdrie has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the development of Northeast Regional Park - Phase 1A project in Alberta, Canada.
The NE Regional Park Master Plan covers land use, trails, amenities, environmental considerations, and budget constraints. The park will be developed over 10-15 years as funding and services like water and wastewater become available. The core is a natural area, with active recreation to the east and space for events to the west. Phase 1, planned for completion by the end of 2024, will open the park to the public with a trail loop and parking. The plan includes seven phases, progressing from the center and west to the east, allowing flexibility based on needs and funding.
From October to December 2023, the project team received feedback on the proposed NE Regional Park from Indigenous communities, sports and culture groups, and local residents. Key suggestions included preserving natural areas and wildlife habitats, accommodating multiple sports, and supporting both passive and active recreation. The feedback emphasized celebrating Indigenous history, ensuring adequate parking and traffic management, connecting neighborhoods with pathways and transit, and providing inclusive amenities such as washrooms, warming shacks, concessions, and space for food trucks.
The closing date of this RFP is June 18, 2024. Additional details regarding this tender can be accessed through our Business Opportunity page here.
