The Kuwait Authority for Partnership Projects (KAPP), in collaboration with the Ministry of Electricity & Water & Renewable Energy of the State of Kuwait (MEWRE), announced the issuance of Request for Proposals (RFP) to the qualified bidders of Az-Zour North Phase 2 & 3 IWPP.

The Project encompasses the financing, design, construction, operation, maintenance, and transfer of Phases 2 & 3 of the Az-Zour North IWPP project, comprising a power and water desalination facility with a minimum capacity of 2,700 MW of power and no less than 120 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) of desalinated water. The Project will utilize a combination of liquefied natural gas and high-pressure natural gas, with gas oil serving as backup fuel. Situated at the Az-Zour North site adjacent to the western border of the Az-Zour North IWPP Phase 1, the Project is positioned on the northern edge of the existing Az-Zour South power complex, approximately 100 km south of Kuwait City along the Arabian Gulf coast. The Project company will enter into the Energy Conversion and Water Purchase Agreement (ECWPA) with MEWRE to supply its electricity and water production to the MEWRE grid for 25 years from the plant's Commercial Operation Date.
