Somos Movilidad de Rionegro on Friday, 13 of September, has published a request for proposals to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the first Light train system (APM) in the country to be built in the municipality of Rionegro, Colombia. CAPEX of the project is USD 300 million.
Somos Movilidad de Rionegro is looking for a private developer that will be responsible for preparation of the Final Studies and Designs; financing; execution of the corresponding Social, Property and Environmental Management; construction; maintenance; operation; and the economic exploitation of the Automated People Mover (APM) Type Light Rail project and its stations for the Municipality of Rionegro. A concession contract will be for 29 years.
The railway system will be implemented as an automatic elevated system or APM (Automatic People Mover). The project will feature 17.8 kilometres long viaducts, with a single track of 13.06 kilometres and a double track of 4.5 kilometres. There will be 14 stations connecting the municipality of Rionegro with the José María Córdova International Airport and the Oriente Tunnel that will connect the Valley of San Nicolás with Medellín. The rolling stock will feature 28 cars that will be operated without a driver, at an average speed of 38 kilometres per hour.
This system will also integrate all the inter-municipal transport of the region with intermodal stations where intercity buses will arrive and which will allow travelers from other municipalities to reach Rionegro using an efficient and sustainable mean of transport.
