Infrastructure Ontario has closed the Requests for Proposals (RFP) stage for teams submitting bids for the Advance Tunnel Contract package for the Yonge North Subway Extension.
The twin 6.3-km tunnels will run from Finch Station on TTC Line 1 to south of Langstaff Road in Markham, where the extension will shift to a surface-level segment. The Yonge North Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 1 subway approximately 8 km north from Finch Station into Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill.
The following two teams submitted proposals:
North End Connectors
Toronto-York Tunnel Connectors
Infrastructure Ontario and Metrolinx are evaluating submissions, and the contract is expected to be awarded later in 2025. The extension is one of the priority transit projects announced by the Province for the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, including the Ontario Line, the Scarborough Subway Extension, the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, the Hazel McCallion Line Extensions and the Hamilton LRT.
