Ministry of Public works in Chile has started operations for Los Lagartos rest area for Ruta 5- Talca Chillan section located in the commune of San Francisco de Mostazal.
The rest area was developed as part of the Talca Chillan section concession which involves the expansion of the Ruta 5 road section connecting Peuco Link to Rancagua bypass. The new area aims to provide better service to the truckers with the capacity of 100 trucks in an 868 m2 facility. It also features bathrooms, showers, dressing rooms, restroom, surveillance, and Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
The investment value of the rest area is UF31,042 (US$1.2 million). It will serve around 9,568 trucks traveling through Ruta 5 road per day.
The Ministry of Public Works of Chile has awarded the concession for the Second Santiago-San Antonio Highway Concession, Route 78 and the Los Ríos-Los Lagos Hospital Network.
