3i-backed Regional Rail, an owner, and operator of short-line freight railroads across North America, has acquired the assets of Clinton Terminal Railroad.
Carolina Coastal Railway (CLNA), a subsidiary of Regional Rail, is set to assume ownership and operational responsibilities for the assets of the Clinton Terminal. These assets will subsequently become the Clinton Branch under CLNA's management. This acquisition marks an extension of Regional Rail's existing presence in North Carolina, an expansion initially established through the acquisition of Carolina Coastal Railway in 2020. The company specializes in offering freight transportation, car storage, and transloading solutions spanning across the United States and western Canada. Additionally, Regional Rail's comprehensive services encompass railroad crossing signal design, construction, inspection, and maintenance, a spectrum of offerings provided to a diverse range of short-line and industrial clients via its subsidiary, Diamondback Signal.
