Brazil’s land transport regulator (ANTT) has announced a public hearing on the reoffer of the US$3.5 billion concession for the Malha Oeste freight rail line project.
During the public hearing, stakeholders will be asked to provide feedback on the technical, economic, and environmental studies related to the 1,625 km line. The primary focus will be on the modernization of the trunk line's track, and the portion that runs through the states of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul will be the subject of discussion.
The logistics company Rumo currently operates Malha Oeste, a railway system that spans 1,973 km. However, in 2020, Rumo informed the federal government of its plans to terminate the contract.
