The Quito Metro authority has announced to start of commercial operations of Quito Metro in December 2023 in Ecuador.
The Quito metro system, with a project cost of approximately US$2 billion, has successfully deployed all 18 trains. These trains have received international certification, and the automatic train protection (ATP) systems are fully operational. Additionally, the automatic train operation (ATO) system is set to be initiated. Spanning 22.6 km and featuring 15 stations, this line will operate with automated trains, establishing itself as the most advanced subway network in Latin America. The operator is a consortium consisting of the French company Transdev and Colombia's Metro de Medellín.
