Queensland Government has published the final terms of reference for the environmental impact statement (EIS) of the Aurukun Bauxite mine project.
The project involves the development of a new open-cut bauxite mine and associated infrastructure. Up to 15 million tonnes per year of run-of-mine bauxite ore will be mined to produce approximately 8 million dry tonnes annually of product bauxite. The mine life is expected to be around 22 years. Product bauxite will be transported by road train to a coastal loading facility, located 15km to the west of the mine, and transhipped to bulk carriers 18km offshore.
