The Government of Qatar is reportedly in talks with the government of Nepal regarding a proposal to build and operate the country's second international airport.
The US$1.2 billion proposal involves the development of an international airport over an area covering 3,000 hectares of land in Nijgadh, a municipality in the Bara district of the country, located 175km from Kathmandu. The airport would have the capacity to handle almost 15 million passengers annually.
Several international entitites have already expressed interest in developing the project, including WGP Global from UK, the Malaysian Government, Landmark Worldwide Company of Korea, and the Airport Authority of India.
