The Qatar Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has awarded the consortium of Metito, Al Attiyah Motors & Trading Company and Gulf Investment Corporation with the contract for the development of the Al Wakra & Al Wukair waste treatment facility in Qatar.
The consortium will be responsible for the design, build, finance and procurement of a 150,000 m3/day sewage treatment works (STW) project under a public-private partnership (PPP) agreement. The QAR5.4 billion (US$1.5 billion) project, located in the areas of Al Wakrah and Al Wukair, marks the country’s first sewage treatment PPP project outside the country’s energy sector.
