National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) in Colombia hasgranted the concession to the Sociedad Portuaria Energética Multipropósito y Contanedores Puerto Solo Buenaventura SA, which supports the construction and operation of a new port terminal specialized in hydrocarbons, which will be located in the Bay of Buenaventura.
This port is expected to start its partial operation in 2022 and facilitate the importation of LPG 'Propane HD-5' Liquefied Petroleum Gas and refined petroleum products, especially diesel and gasoline, from the United States coast on the Gulf of Mexico to Colombia. This port terminal will be divided into two specialized areas: one to receive LPG 'Propane HD-5' Liquefied Petroleum Gas and the other to receive refined petroleum. With the Liquefied Gas that reaches the terminal, two power generation plants will be supplied: Termo Puerto Solo SAS ESP of 80 MW and 148 MW, essential to meet the goals of the country's energy matrix.
It is estimated that this port terminal will handle an approximate volume of 328,786 tons in its first year of operation and that it will reach 1,939,363 tons after two decades. The concession granted is for 30 years initially.
