The Association of Public-Private Partnerships of Puerto Rico (AAPPPR) and Ports Authority are considering public-private partnership (PPP) for the Cruize ship docks development in the port of San Juan. According to the authorities, the PPP model represents the solution to the infrastructure challenges that the island is facing. The initiative is being considered to facilitate investment, improve, expand and operate the infrastructure of cruise ship docks.
The port's authority does not have the financial capacity to face the amount of investment in infrastructure improvements and expansion required by the San cruise docks. Thus developing the project on a public-private partnership could be an ideal solution for the purpose.
