Metrolinx held open house information sessions at the end of January and in the beginning of February on its Ontario line subway project in Toronto. The project will be implemented as a Public-Private Partnership (P3).
This project envisages the development of a 16km free-standing subway line, connecting Ontario Place/Exhibition through downtown Toronto to the Ontario Science Centre. The line will better connect people to where they want to go, and reduce travel times across Toronto. It features 15 potential stations, including six interchange stations adding 17 new connections to GO Transit, existing subways and streetcars.
Metrolinx and Infrastructure Ontario are working together to deliver the Ontario Line and released the Initial Business Case for the project in July 2019. Planning for the project continues, including due diligence work, further refining the design and engineering work and seeking environmental approvals. You can see the Business case and project website in the project profile here.
Subsequent public open houses on the Ontario Line will take place in the spring.
