The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) and the project structuring team of the National Development Finance Company (FDN) will hold 12 public hearings on the La Dorada - Chiriguaná PPP, in the municipalities surrounding the railway corridor.

The socializations, which will take place in Barrancabermeja, Puente Sogamoso, La Dorada, Puerto Triunfo, Puerto Berrío, Puerto Parra, San Alberto, Gamarra, Pailitas and Chiriguaná, will allow to know the scope of the project, its benefits and current stage, in addition to listening to the opinions of the attendees, observations, concerns and recommendations. The ANI encourages public participation in socialization sessions where communities can share their feedback and play a key role in shaping the project. This initiative aims to improve connections between the Caribbean ports and the country's center, reducing both logistics costs and emissions. The project is expected to reduce freight transport costs by up to 20% by complementing road, airport, river, and port transport. Among the most important social works is the construction of the vehicular and pedestrian bridge over the Sogamoso River in the municipality of Puerto Wilches and Barrancabermeja, and the relocation of two Educational Institutions, Santo Domingo and San José, in Cimitarra.

The winning bidder must rehabilitate the railway, build an administrative building, operations control center, two train maintenance workshops, and a cargo transfer center, as well as maintain and repair rolling stock. The project is in its final tender stage, with bids due by November 14, 2024, so it is expected to be awarded before the end of 2024.
