Public hearing held for USD80 million Port Project in Colombia

The National Infrastructure Agency (ANI) has advanced the public hearing for the development of a multipurpose and intermodal public service maritime terminal in the port area of Ciénaga (Magdalena), Colombia.

The concession for this port was sought by Sociedad Portuaria Río Córdoba SA. The US$ 80 million port project entails the establishment of a versatile and intermodal maritime terminal for foreign trade. This initiative supports an intermodal strategy by providing direct connectivity to the Atlantic Railroad, the national polyduct system, and the Ruta del Sol road corridor, which in turn connects to the railway network. The project aims to enhance the export and import operations of containers, bulk goods, general cargo, hydrocarbons, and various other commodities.

The construction phase is estimated to have a duration of around 3 years, and the port is projected to commence operations starting in the 4th year of the concession. During this time, the port will have the capacity to handle various operations such as loading, unloading, transhipment, and re-shipment. In the subsequent phase, which is anticipated to begin in the 8th year of the concession, the transportation of liquid bulk arriving at or departing from the port terminal will be implemented.
