The Government of Pernambuco in Brazil and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) have launched a public consultation for the concession of the Dois Irmãos State Park on September 02, 2021. The consultation is opened for a 30-day period. The project is expected to attract investments of over BRL600 million (US$114.35 million) in management, infrastructure, and conservation.
The Dois Irmãos concession project is focused to provide assistance and support to visitors, in addition to the revitalization and maintenance of tourist services for the park. The new park project involves its redevelopment into three structures: urban area, natural area, and biopark. The first two will offer free space for recreation, with public access to the forest for hiking and other leisure activities, while the zoo area will be transformed into a large biopark. The project also includes the restoration of two historical sites, Chalé do Prata and Chapeu do Sol.
