The government of the State of Rio and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) in Brazil has opened a public consultation for block 3 of the sanitation concession. The authority has published a notice and other documents that constitute the model. The concession involves the provision of water distribution, sewage collection, and treatment services in the scoped area.
The new block 3 now has 19 confirmed cities: Bom Jardim, Bom Jesus do Itabapoana, Carapebus, Carmo, Itaguaí, Itaperuna, Macuco, Natividade, Paracambi, Pinheiral, Piraí, Rio Claro, Rio das Ostras, Rio de Janeiro (West Zone /AP-5), São Fidélis, São José de Ubá, Seropédica, Trajano de Moraes and Vassouras. This block will benefit 2.7 million people in 18 municipalities and in the AP-5 (West Zone) of Rio de Janeiro.
