The National Land Transport Agency (ANTT) in Brazil has started on November 24 the period of public hearings for the concession of the highway between Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro. The period for submission of contributions is from November 24, 2021, until January 10, 2022.
The concession includes a total of 482-km road distributed between BR-040/MG Highway, BR-040/RJ Highway, Highway BR-040/RJ and BR-495/RJ Highway. As the main road corridor between the states of Rio de Janeiro and Minas Gerais, the project is aimed to improve the road service and ensure greater reliability and safety for cargo and passenger transport.
The public hearings will gather suggestions and contributions to the draft notice and contract, to the Highway Exploration Program and to technical, economic and environmental feasibility studies for the concession. The in-person public sessions will be in Brasília (DF), Belo Horizonte (MG), Juiz de Fora (MG) and Rio de Janeiro (RJ).
