National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) and Government of Alagoas in Brazil have launched a public consultation to launch the first stages of concession for Maceio sanitation PPP project. The objective of the PPP is the implementation, expansion, maintenance, operation, and management of a Sewerage System in total of 13 municipalities of Maceió, located in areas of Litoral Norte, Serraria, Farol, Orla da Lagoa Mundaú, Jacitinho, Córrego do Sapo and surroundings.
Currently, only 10.9% of the region's residents have sanitary sewage. The collection and treatment service is expected to reach 90% of the population of each municipality with the concession. The concession also expects the universalization of water supply in six years.
