The Government of Peru has announced that the Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) has included the Cusco Wastewater Treatment Plant public-private partnership (PPP) project and the Cajamarca Wastewater Treatment Plant PPP project in the private investment promotion process.
The two projects total US$104 million and both projects will benefit more than 720,000 people. The Cajamarca Wastewater Treatment Plant project involves providing efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment and disposal for the city of Cajamarca, including in the districts of Cajamarca and Baños del Inca, benefiting 352,000 people. The Cusco Wastewater Treatment Plant project involves the efficient and sustainable wastewater treatment and disposal service from the city of Cusco, benefiting 375,000 people. The project will help reduce acute diarrheal diseases, as well as reduce river pollution and promote tourism in the area.
The projects will require partial government funding through the Ministry of Housing, Construction and Sanitation. Declaration of interest for these projects is expected in Q4 of 2023.
