The Private Investment Promotion Agency (PROINVERSIÓN) and the Municipality of Cusco have presented the 14.11 km road infrastructure project that will run through the districts of San Sebastián, Wanchaq, Santiago, Cusco and Poroy, forming part of the Longitudinal Highway of the Sierra Sur in Peru.

The construction of the Cusco Avoidance Road will enhance territorial and regional integration of the southern economic corridor and improve urban traffic organization. The project comprises three sections:

  • Agua Buena Bridge to Terrestrial Terminal,
  • Terrestrial Terminal to Ovalo Miguel Grau, and
  • Ovalo Miguel Grau to Poroy, leading to the new Chincheros airport and/or the Sacred Valley of the Incas (Urubamba).

The project will feature access ramps, a 4-km twin tunnel, viaducts, bridges, and two road interchanges. One interchange will span 3 km between the Wanchaq Land Terminal and the Pachacútec oval, while the other will be located along the Miguel Grau oval, including access and exit ramps.
