Peru's private investment promotion agency Proinversión has launched a tender process for the installation and management of broadband services across the Amazonas, Ica and Lima regions.
The projects seek to expand access to telecommunication services in several districts in these regions, by expanding the broadband transportation networks to reach district capitals and rolling out access networks for 586 social-priority rural towns in those regions.
The Telecommunications Investment Fund (Fondo de Inversión en Telecomunicaciones, FITEL), an agency under the Ministry of Transport and Communications, requested ProInversión to include the projects in the private investment promotion process.
The projects will::
Approximately 5,336 km of optical fiber will be deployed in the three regions.The total investment for the broadband PPP is approximately US$164 million.
The project is expected to be awarded in December 2017.
