PROINVERSIÓN and MTC promote 5 Telecom projects for USD483 million

The Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) has presented to private companies interested in financing Works for Taxes (OxI) projects, a portfolio of 5 telecommunications projects for PEN1,760 million (US$ 483 million) in Peru.

The portfolio consists of broadband installation projects aimed at achieving comprehensive connectivity and social development in the following regions:

  • Cajamarca Region:

    • Deployment: 1,285 km of fiber optics, 1,214 nodes;
    • Beneficiaries: 378,000 residents in 1,181 towns, 2,106 public institutions; and
    • Includes: 1,472 schools, 558 posts, and 133 police stations.
  • Piura Region:

    • Installation of Broadband for comprehensive connectivity and social development
    • Fiber Optics: 245 km deployed, 541 nodes implemented
    • Beneficiaries: 273,000 residents in 528 towns, 785 public institutions
    • Includes: 39 schools, 219 posts, 27 police stations
  • Tumbes Region:

    • Installation of Broadband for comprehensive connectivity and social development
    • Fiber Optics: 303 km deployed, 55 nodes implemented
    • Beneficiaries: 30,000 residents in 54 towns, 81 public institutions
    • Includes: 52 schools, 24 posts, 5 police stations
  • Loreto Region:

    • Installation of Broadband in various areas including Napo-Putumayo, Huallaga, Marañón, and Amazonas river basins, Yurimaguas-Iquitos section
    • Fiber Optics: 11 km deployed, 26 nodes implemented, 6 Digital Access Centers
    • Beneficiaries: 45,000 residents in 271 localities
    • Includes: 278 schools, 37 posts, 11 police stations
  • Manseriche, Datem del Marañón:

    • Fiber Optics: 103 km deployed, 45 nodes implemented, Digital Access Center
    • Beneficiaries: 9,000 residents in 43 localities
    • Includes: 52 schools, 14 posts

PROINVERSIÓN will provide advice and technical support to the MTC and PRONATEL in all phases of the Works for Taxes mechanism.
