The Private Investment Promotion Agency (Proinversión) of Peru is advancing with the awarding of the Lake Titicaca wastewater treatment system project in Puno, located in the southeast of the country.
The agency has ratified the institutional commitment to the project and reaffirmed that deadlines are being met within the schedule foreseen to award the project on 27 March 2019. The opinions of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Office of the Comptroller General of the Republic regarding the final contract are pending.
The agency has also held multiple working meetings with the elected authorities of the Puno region, as well as with the new mayors of the ten beneficiary provinces of the project, and their respective technical teams, with the purpose of providing timely continuity to all communication regarding the project.
The selected private partner will design, finance, construct, operate and maintain a wastewater treatment system for the Lake Titicaca basin, consisting of ten wastewater treatment plants. Five bidding teams were prequalified for the project in December 2018.
