The Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) has announced progress on the construction of the Coastal Defense Diversion Canal in Pilar, Paraguay.

Under Phase A of the coastal defense, work has progressed by 89% on the diversion channel, the control stations of the San Lorenzo and Niembuku streams and the terminal station of the last channel. Due to the commissioning of drainage motor pumps, low-lying areas will be prevented from being flooded by heavy rains. Phase B, which includes storm drainage works and a sanitary sewage system with an Effluent Pretreatment Plan, is under bidding. Phase C includes the construction of the coastal avenue and linear parks.
