The Privatization Supervisory Committee for the Environment, Water and Agriculture sectors of Saudi Arabia has suspended the tender of Ras Al-Khair Desalination and Power Plant. The plant has a power generation capacity of 2.65GW and is able to provide 1.05 million cubic meters of water a day (cm/d).
A new engagement strategy and plan for the Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) assets, in particular, the Ras Al-Khair plant, will be announced shortly. The authority will continue to work with investors in future PPP and privatization transactions in the water sector. In the meantime, Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) will be responsible for the management, operation, and maintenance of the Ras Al-Khair desalination and power plant.
