The NITI Aayog in India has proposed plans to privatize the Delhi Metro network (MRTS) operating in the National Capital Region (NCR) of India. Currently, the network is being operated by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). The government is planning to privatize the entire Delhi MRTS network on public-private partnerships from leasing it to the private sector.
According to estimations by privatization, the DMRC can earn benefits ranging from INR 390 billion (US$ 5.14 billion) to INR 800 billion (US$ 10.55 billion). The authority has prepared three lease models with durations of 20 years, 50 years, and 99 years. The monetization draft can be accessed here.
