Cornwall Council has sought private investment to jointly run Cornwall Airport Newquay.
The authority initiated its Local Investment in Nature Cornwall (LINC) initiative and announced its search for a private sector collaborator to invest in and co-manage its airport estate. Currently, the authority oversees Cornwall Airport Newquay, spanning 650 acres of land and contributing GBP 72 million (US$ 90.4 million) to the Cornish economy annually.
In addition to seeking investment for the airport, the council aims to attract private funding for natural capital projects in the county through the LINC program. These projects encompass endeavors such as large-scale tree planting, the creation of wildflower meadows, the restoration of seagrass beds and rivers, and the establishment of new wildlife habitats.
