The Ministry of Transport and Public Works in Ecuador has announced the implementation of horizontal preventive signage on an E-38 road section connecting Flavio Alfaro canton to El Carmen canton located in Manabi, Ecuador.
The signage was carried out as part of the Manabí Results-Based Maintenance project which involves maintenance works on El Carmen – Rocafuerte (E-38) and Pedernales – Cojimíes (E-386) roads located in the Manabi province. These 218 km long roads facilitate connections to cantons of El Carmen, Flavio Alfaro, Chone, Tosagua, Rocafuerte and Pedernales.
The authority signed a five-year results-based contract with Covipal in July 2020. The project aims to facilitate safe passage for users and increase the safety standards of the road. In the remaining four-year period, Covipal will be responsible to continue maintaining the road infrastructure with optimal service and safety standards. The investment value of the project is US$29.75 million. The financing for the project is provided by the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF).
