The Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Center and the Department of Transportation (DOTr) commenced the preliminary market-sounding activity for the NCR EDSA Busway Project to engage potential stakeholders for the PPP project in the Philippines.
This initiative aims to present an overview of the proposed PPP project, collect initial feedback and valuable insights from private sector participants, and identify potential issues or concerns affecting the project's viability. The NCR EDSA Busway Project aims to improve accessibility, safety, and reliability, and reduce travel time for commuters by covering the EDSA corridor and other major and feeder roads within the region. The potential responsibilities of the private sector partner may include financing, design, construction, operations, and maintenance of upgraded bus stations and facilities, procurement of bus fleet, as well as operations and maintenance of the busway system. The PPP Center and DOTr have entered into a technical assistance agreement to provide project preparation and transaction advisory services, funded through the Project Development and Monitoring Facility managed by the PPP Center. The completion of the feasibility study for the project is targeted to be finalized by midyear.
