Webuild as leader of the WA Life Joint Venture has progressed to the final stage of negotiations as the preferred respondent for the AUD 1.8 billion (USD 1.1 billion) construction of the new Women and Babies Hospital Project in Perth, Australia.
Webuild holds a 70% stake in the project, with the remaining 30% held by Australian firm Roberts Co. The initiative aims to replace the 100-year-old King Edward Memorial Hospital, enhancing services and options for women, newborns, and families in Western Australia. The Women and Babies Hospital will be constructed within the Fiona Stanley Hospital precinct in Murdoch, a southern suburb. Additionally, the project includes a significant expansion of Osborne Park Hospital in Stirling, a northern suburb, and the enhancement of neonatal services at Perth’s Children’s Hospital.
Webuild brings extensive experience to this venture, designing and constructing approximately 200 healthcare facilities worldwide, including the New Hospital in Venice Mestre and the Four Hospitals in Tuscany. This project further strengthens Webuild's presence in Australia, its second-largest market outside Italy. The Group is currently involved in several major Australian infrastructure projects, such as the Tunnels North section of the Suburban Rail Loop East in Melbourne, the Sydney Metro, and Snowy 2.0, the country's largest renewable energy project under construction.
