The Directorate-General of Concessions, part of the government of Chile's Ministry of Public Works, has announced that it has selected a consortium comprised of Chilean companies Icafal and Conpax for the Route G-21 concession.
The team beat out competition from a consortium of Besalco (based in Chile) and Mota-Engil (Portugal). Construction works are expected to start in 2021 and extend for a period of four to six years.
The project, which has an estimated total investment of US$97 million, involves the upgrading of the existing road between Avenida Las Condes Avenue and Corral Quemado, the construction of a new three-lane road between Corral Quemado and the intersection with Route G-251, the rehabilitation of 1.1 km of existing pavement and the construction of two bridges on Route G-245 towards Los Bronces Mine, 29 bus stops and an emergency assistance area, among other facilities.
