PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero) in Indonesia has selected GMR Airports Limited (GAL) as a preferred bidder for the concession of improvement works at Kualanamu airport in Medan.
Once finalized, GMR will make efforts to increase airport capacity from 9 million passengers per year to 17 million passengers per year in Phase I, 30 million passengers per year in Phase II and 42 million passengers per year in Phase III. The scope of works also involves the development of commercial buildings on 200 hectares, including theme and logistics parks, factory outlets, trade complexes, and maintenance repair & overhaul (MRO) facilities.
