The Airports of Montenegro is planning to increase the capacities of airports in Podgorica and Tivat. The authorities are planning to expand expansion of Podgorica Airport with additional 1,000 square meters and passenger capacities, as well as the Terminal 2 expansion at Tivat Airport. The expansion is being considered because of continuous passenger growth. The expansion is planned to be done in 2020.
Podgorica is an international airport serving the Montenegrin capital of Podgorica and the surrounding region. The airport is located 11 km south of central Podgorica, in the Zeta Plain, one of the few flat areas of Montenegro suitable for a large airport.
Tivat airport is located right next to the city of Tivat, 8 km from the center of Kotor, and 20 km north-west of Budva, one of the most popular tourist destinations on the eastern Adriatic coast. The sole runway of the airport ends just 88 m from the coastline of the Bay of Kotor.
