The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) of the Philippines has announced that the Plaridel Bypass Road Phase II, Package 3 will be finished by June 2017.
At this stage, as of January 30, 2017, the 3rd package of the bypass road was completed by 86.16%, and the 4th by 22.92%. DPWH also announced that by July 2018, the public will have full access to the entire project. The project involves developing a 23.3 km road starting at the Balagtas interchange in the North Luzon Expressway up to San Rafael, Bulacan. The road will be expanded to a four-lane road with a 3.50 m width per lane and a 2.5 m width shoulder. The road will run through 5 municipalities of Bulacan: Balagtas, Giginto, Plaridel, Bustos and San Rafael.
The project also includes the construction of 11 bridges, 2 interchanges, 5 overpasses, 1 intersection and two service roads, one on each side along the Toll Road, along section Burol to Angat River. The constructed road will reduce travel time by about 45-50 min and divert about 15,000 vehicles from existing road networks while reducing travel distance by about 5 km.
