Kenya's government has revealed intentions of constructing a new expressway on Kiambu Road, Nairobi, Kenya.
The upcoming expressway at the Kiambu Road exit plaza is set to streamline connectivity to Nairobi CBD, Upper Hill, and Ngong Road. The expressway project will follow an Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) model, where a contractor commits to engineering, procuring, and constructing a structure based on specified requirements. The Kiambu Road dualling initiative, spanning Muthaiga-Kiambu-Ndumberi, is estimated to have a total cost of KES46.3 billion (US$ 286.1 million), including expenses for land acquisition and relocation services amounting to US$ 55.2 million. The funding for the project is expected to come from the collaboration between the Kenyan government and China, with support from the Chinese Exim Bank. The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has entered into a contract with the Chinese firm Sinohydro Corporation Limited to execute the dualling project.
