Plans approved for development of new Cardiff arena PPP in the UK

Planning Committee has approved plans for the development of a new Cardiff arena, precisely for Phae One of Atlantic Wharf in Butetown, UK. 

The project's Phase One comprises the new arena with the 17,000- capacity, hotel and associated landscaping. The consortium, chosen by the Cardiff County Council, is formed by Robertson Group as developers and Live Nation and Oak View Group as joint operators. The construction of the new arena is expected to start later this year. Once completed in 2025, the arena will be able to host big events and attract millions of visitors in addition to creating up to 1000 jobs. 

Phase One of the development formed part of a hybrid planning application. Approved by the Planning Committee, the wider masterplan will be developed to allow detailed applications for up to 890 residential dwellings, 1090 hotel bed spaces, 19,500 sq m of office spaces, 27,500 sq m of leisure floorspace, 12,310 sq m of retail floor space with associated landscaping, drainage, parking for bicycles and cars and other transport infrastructure.
