The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) has discussed plans at the Latam Metro Rail Summit for the Valparaíso-Santiago Train project in Chile.

More than 340 km of new rails, for trams, cable cars and the Valparaso-Santiago train, will be made possible by an investment of US$ 5,400 million. This project will unite the two large metropolises of the country. When demand increases, the authority will permit the construction of a tunnel beneath Cuesta La Dormida.

In 2025 the tender will be released for the railway that connects Valparaíso with Santiago.
