The Department of Justice and the Office of Public Works (OPW) have granted planning permission for the Dublin Family Courts complex to be built on a brownfield site located at Hammond Lane/Church Street in Dublin adjacent to the Four Courts in the heart of the city’s legal quarter.
The Dublin Family Courts complex is set to replace the current inadequate facilities with a modern, purpose-built establishment, providing a dignified and secure environment for family law proceedings. This integrated complex will incorporate court facilities alongside mediation, family support, and associated services. Designed with the specific needs of family court users in mind, it aims to offer a safe and conducive environment for families to address their issues effectively, striving for optimal outcomes tailored to their circumstances. Moreover, the complex aligns with the Government's extensive family law reform initiatives, the Department of Justice's Family Justice Strategy, and the Courts Service's family law modernization program.
The National Development Finance Agency (NDFA) will oversee the procurement and delivery of the Dublin Family Courts complex in partnership with the OPW, on behalf of the Courts Service, as a Public-Private Partnership. Construction is expected to commence in 2026, with completion anticipated by 2028.
