National Grid Corporation of the Philippines has announced plans to begin initial operations for the Mindanao to Visayas transmission line.
The transmission line will be capable to supply an additional 300-MW of electricity into the Luzon grid by June 2022. This transmission will mitigate the blackouts of the Luzon grid during power surges and peak demand hours.
The project was implemented at a cost of PHP52 billion (US$1.01 billion). Authority is planning to partially energize the transmission line in March 2022 by utilizing energy shared from Mindanao.
